Excellent podcast. 2 comments. 1. Years ago, when managing The Athenian School in Danville, I realized that even intelligent human beings are mostly confused about how to sort waste. Eventually a pretty good job was done with paper, cardboard, glass, aluminum. Plastics were tricky, as the podcast pointed out. Construction waste was depressing. Composting everything onsite was a huge success, combined with a vegetable garden run by the students. 2. My Danish wife took me to the waste management facility in Copenhagen. 180⁰ opposite approach. In a handsome modern structure all waste other than wood, paper, cardboard, glass and aluminum is burned to power steam turbines which produce municipal hot water and electrical power.
