Earth Day 2026 Event Calendar

Earth Day is coming up and because April 22 is midweek this year, the celebrations are spread over two weekends.

Here is a sampling - there are many more, of course.

APRIL 17

Sustainable Contra Costa: Green Movie Night screening "The History of Plastic", followed by a panel discussion. Walnut Creek Methodist Church, 6:30 - 9:00 PM. More info here.

APRIL 18

Contra Costa Resource Conservation District: Marsh Creek and Trails Earth Day Cleanup, also called Upper Sand Creek basin, 9:00 AM - noon. Meet south of Kaiser Antioch. More info here. CCRCD is also sponsoring other events and cleanups. Check them our here.

John Muir National Historic Site: John Muir Birthday and Earth Day Celebration, including house tour, 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM. More info here.

APRIL 19

East Bay Native Plant Society: Huckleberry Park Restoration Workday, 9:30 AM - noon. More info here.

Friends of Alhambra Creek: Martinez Marina Native Wetland Garden Workday, 9:00 AM - noon. More info here.

LIST OF WALNUT CREEK EARTHDAY EVENTS:

• Civic Park Earth Day Festival (April 19, 11am-2pm): Features the Earth Capades, local bands, yoga, and interactive environmental education.

• Broadway Plaza Celebration (April 19, 11am-3pm): Offers a reusable bag pledge initiative and a flower truck to build bouquets.

• Downtown Cleanup Project (April 19, 9am-1pm): Volunteers will contribute to the “Painted Pianos” project, beautifying the city.

• Parkmead Neighborhood Cleanup (April 19, 9-11:30am): Meets at Tice Creek Elementary to clean high-litter areas.

• Unity of Walnut Creek Cleanup (April 19, 1-5pm): Involves cleaning the grounds/labyrinth, plus a plant-based potluck.

In addition, the 7th Annual Earth Day Celebration at the WellCome OM Center is scheduled for Saturday, April 25, 2026. For more information on volunteering, check the East Bay Regional Park District.
